Technical Leadership for Non-Technical Founders

The co-founder conversation, without the co-founder risk

Get the technical partnership you're looking for — senior leadership, real engineers, transparent pricing — without giving away your company.

Paid partnerships by default. A rare, invitation-only equity track exists for the handful of products we truly believe in.

The Problem

You've done the hard part. Now you need someone who can build it right

  • You can't evaluate code quality

You know your market. You can't tell if the architecture you're being sold is right or just easy for the vendor.

  • Freelancers stall or disappear

Half-finished repos, missed deadlines, and no one accountable for the whole product, just the ticket in front of them.

  • Agencies quote big, explain little

Six-figure proposals with no breakdown, no rationale, and no way to tell what you're actually paying for.

  • A real co-founder search takes months

You don't have 3–6 months to find the right technical co-founder before you can even start building.

Engagement Models

Three transparent ways to work with us

Plus a selective, invitation-only equity track for the handful of products we truly believe in.

See how that works
  • Fixed fee · New idea

    New product discovery

    $1,500/ fixed fee

Starts with a free discovery call

30 minutes to scope your problem, budget, and timeline and tell you honestly if we're a fit.

De-risk your idea before you build — architecture, feasibility, and a hiring plan, before you spend a dollar on development.

    • Architecture & system design blueprint
    • Build vs. buy vs. no-code recommendation
    • Data model / schema draft
    • Third-party integration & API feasibility check
    • AI/LLM opportunity assessment
    • Team composition and hiring plan
    • Prioritized risk assessment
    • Investor-ready technical summary
  • Fixed fee · Existing code

    Existing product audit

    $2,000/ fixed fee

Starts with a free discovery call

30 minutes to scope your problem, budget, and timeline and tell you honestly if we're a fit.

De-risk an existing codebase — code quality, security, and infrastructure reviewed before you commit to your next phase.

    • Code quality review and technical-debt scoring
    • Security vulnerability scan
    • Performance and load-testing assessment
    • Infrastructure/DevOps review (CI/CD, hosting, monitoring)
    • IP and ownership documentation check
    • "Rebuild vs. refactor vs. extend" recommendation with cost estimate
    • Prioritized risk assessment
    • Investor-ready technical summary
  • Most Common

    Monthly retainer

    Fractional CTO retainer

    $4,000/per month, 10-16 hrs/week

Senior technical leadership — only for founders who already have engineering capacity in place.

    • Embedded fractional CTO roadmap & architecture ownership
    • Technical debt strategy & code review standards
    • Engineering hiring specs, screening & interviews
    • Vendor & tool management
    • Security, compliance & technical risk oversight
    • Build vs. buy vs. AI-tool evaluation
    • AI strategy & workflow automation roadmap
    • Board & investor technical reporting
    • Cloud cost & infrastructure optimization

Final pricing depends on scope. All three engagement types above are standard, transparent paid work — this is how virtually all of our clients work with us. No hidden equity ask, ever.

Selective Equity Track

CTO & co-founding for the handful of products we truly believe in

Reduced cash rate, plus equity. Extremely rare — offered to a handful of founders a year, by invitation only, and only after a completed Technical Discovery phase.

  • Reduced cash rate on your MVP build — typically 20–35% below standard
  • Embedded fractional CTO with priority engineering access
  • Full ownership — architecture through scale
  • Fundraising support — investor intros through BeeWeb's network, not just pitch coaching
  • Requires a completed Technical Discovery phase
  • Reviewed against team, traction & market fit
  • Disclosed equity range
Who This is For

Built for founders who are ready to pay for it right

We qualify every conversation up front, so we spend our time and yours where it actually leads somewhere.

Good fit

This is for you if

  • You have a validated idea and a clear, one-sentence business model.
  • You have real budget available — self-funded, friends and family, or a closed pre-seed/seed round.
  • You need a paid technical partner, not someone to work for free.
  • You have a deadline that matters — a raise, a launch, or a market window.
  • You have traction and need to replace an underperforming freelancer or outsourced team.

Not a fit

This isn't a fit if

  • You're hoping for a full build with no cash involved — our equity track always pairs a reduced fee with real belief in the business, never $0 down.
  • You don't yet have a validated business model or a real customer hypothesis.
  • You're not willing to pay for a scoped discovery phase before committing to a build.
  • You want BeeWeb on your cap table as a co-founder without the governance rights that come with it.

We are a paid technical partner first. Every engagement begins with a paid discovery phase — a selective equity partnership exists for the handful of products we believe in each year, but it's never a shortcut around that first phase.

What We Provide

Strategy, architecture, and delivery from one accountable partner

  1. 01 — Strategy

    Technical leadership

A fractional CTO who owns your roadmap, makes the architecture calls, and represents your technology to investors.

  2. 02 — Architecture

Built to scale, from day one

Stack decisions, security, and infrastructure chosen for where your product is going, not just where it starts.

  3. 03 — Delivery

    A real engineering team

Senior developers, QA, and DevOps who report to your fractional CTO and ship on a predictable cadence.

What Technical Leadership Covers

Everything a technical co-founder would own without the equity

  • 01 Roadmap & Architecture

We own the technical roadmap and make the architecture decisions that determine whether your product can actually scale.

  • 02 Product Strategy

Every technical decision is tied back to your business goals and MVP priorities — not built for its own sake.

  • 03 Hiring & Team Building

When you're ready to bring engineering in-house, we help you hire, structure, and onboard the right team.

  • 04 Vendor & Tool Management

We evaluate and manage the third-party tools, APIs, and vendors your product depends on.

  • 05 AI Strategy

AI-native delivery accelerates your build and we help you identify where AI creates real product advantage.

  • 06 Technical Risk & Code Review

Ongoing oversight that catches technical debt and security risk before it becomes expensive to fix.

Getting Ready to Raise

We help you tell the technical story

Investors ask hard technical questions. We make sure you have credible, defensible answers and the documentation to back them up.

  • Technical due-diligence data room prep
  • Architecture & scalability narrative for your deck
  • Investor technical Q&A coaching
  • Independent, credible third-party validation

FAQ

Common questions from non-technical founders

Almost never — and not instead of payment. The vast majority of our clients work with us on one of the standard cash engagements above. For a small handful of products a year that we genuinely believe in, we offer a CTO & Co-Founding track: a reduced cash rate paired with a minority equity stake, always alongside cash, never in place of it. It follows a completed Technical Discovery engagement and an internal review of your traction, team, and market — it's the exception, not the rule, and most applicants won't be a fit, which is by design.

Yes. You retain full ownership of the intellectual property, source code, and infrastructure accounts from day one — there's no vendor lock-in.

We recommend starting with the paid discovery phase, which is scoped to be accessible even at early stages. If you have no funding and no cash budget at all, we're likely not the right fit yet — but we're happy to point you toward resources that can help you get there.

You get a fractional CTO who owns the technical decisions and business alignment, not just headcount. The engineering team reports through that leadership layer, so you're not left making architecture calls you're not equipped to evaluate.

Absolutely — many clients do. We build with clean documentation and handover in mind from day one, and we'll support the transition when you're ready.

Most engagements begin within a week of the discovery call. The paid discovery phase itself typically runs 2–4 weeks before a build proposal is finalized.
