Overview

Nine aims to make dental care more accessible, transparent and user-friendly for patients, while also helping clinics improve operational efficiency. The platform reflects a modern approach to dental care and strengthens our growing presence in the HealthTech market.

Business Challenge

Entering the Saudi Arabian market required adapting to local user behavior, regulatory nuances and technical constraints:

    🔹 SMS-based phone authentication was a cultural requirement, replacing traditional email login. This required redesigning the authentication flow to support SMS login for Saudi phone numbers.

    🔹 iOS optimization was critical due to the dominance of iPhone devices in the region. This shifted our development priorities and testing approach, ensuring the app performed at its best within the iOS ecosystem.

    🔹 Frontend-backend integration had to be aligned as we're responsible for the React Native front-end, while the back-end was developed by the client’s team in PHP. This resulted in some inconsistencies between the two systems, requiring close collaboration and deep debugging to synchronize API behaviors.

    🔹 App Store healthcare compliance added regulatory complexity during submission and review. Apple required additional verification documents proving that the company had the legal right to develop and publish the app. They also required some changes in user journey such as making some pages public and we quickly adjusted to that.

Our Solution

Our development team implemented the solution with a strong focus on performance, usability, and regional UX expectations:

    🔹 Built with React Native ensuring high performance on both iOS and Android, while focusing additional optimization on iOS based on market needs.

    🔹 Rebuilt authentication flow around KSA phone number verification, creating a fast and familiar experience for Saudi users.

    🔹 Collaborated closely with the client’s back-end team to resolve API inconsistencies and ensure reliable data flows.

    🔹 Managed App App Store compliance by coordinating documentation and journey adjustments with Apple Support and the client’s lawyer till the final approval.

Development Process

We started the Nine Dental App from scratch- from branding and business logic to full UI/UX Design and mobile application development. The app was developed through a tightly coordinated process led by a dedicated Project Manager who handled communication and delivery.
