Context

The platform supports both digital games and a customizable Monopoly experience, with an option for users to request a printed version delivered directly to their doorstep. BeeWeb was engaged to enhance, optimize, and develop both the digital and Monopoly experiences, ensuring smooth performance and engaging gamification features across devices.

Challenge

The main challenges of the project were tied to responsiveness and interactivity. The platform needed to provide a fully responsive experience across web and mobile devices while handling complex gamification elements such as card flip animations, shuffle effects, sounds, and light/dark modes. Some of these interactive elements were initially handled separately, which caused inconsistencies, and needed to be grouped and optimized for smooth performance. Additionally, supporting large card exports, particularly when users generated up to 52 cards, required efficient download and generation logic to avoid delays. Another key challenge was ensuring that the AI card creation system could flexibly understand a wide variety of prompts, from detailed descriptions to short thoughts, while generating unique content for multiple cards simultaneously.

Solution

We approached the project comprehensively, developing the digital card creation system entirely from scratch. This included a drag-and-drop interface, real-time collaborative editing, AI-powered card generation, and gamification features such as QR code sharing, progress tracking, and card favorites. For the Monopoly portion, we enhanced the existing codebase by fixing issues with icon search, uploads, color editing, and export functionality, while implementing the “Build and Buy” logic entirely from scratch. To ensure optimal performance, we used server-side rendering, static generation, code splitting, concurrent React features, and a monorepo structure for shared code. Animations and interactive elements were carefully tested, grouped, and optimized for seamless responsiveness across devices, and the download and export logic was refined for large card sets.

Development Process

The project team consisted of a Full Stack Developer, a UI/UX Designer, a QA specialist, and a Project Manager. The team followed a Scrum methodology with weekly sprints and daily internal communication to ensure agile development and rapid iteration. The UI/UX Designer worked closely with the client to design digital cards and optimize the user experience, while the developer implemented the functionality and performance optimizations. For Monopoly, the team enhanced the client-provided design, improving usability, export capabilities, and adding missing features. Weekly calls with the client ensured alignment, feedback, and approval at every stage.

Result

The Meople platform is now live and fully functional. The platform currently supports landscape gameplay, and future updates will introduce vertical mode and an engagement dashboard for organizations, providing insights into user participation, progress, and a leads’ database for organizational use.
