Overview

HotSpotz is a mobile app that enables its users to explore and engage with various venues, including bars, pubs, clubs, and upcoming events. Users can search for their preferred venues and events, such as live concerts, DJ or band performances or any other happening, using the search filters or the map feature, and purchase tickets to them.
At its core, HotSpotz functions as a social app, offering users the ability to create personalized profiles, share posts, connect with others by following them, and hold conversations through the chat feature.
HotSpotz does not only cater to users but also empowers venues with their dedicated profiles, showcasing detailed information and user-generated reviews. Additionally, venues can promote their upcoming events on the app. Venue managers should contact the HotSpotz team to register their venues, as registration is not done through the mobile app, but rather through the admin panel. So, alongside the app, we have built an admin dashboard, where venues and events are created and handled. The super admin grants access to sub-admins (venue and event managers), allowing them to have control over their respective properties.
This panel also manages user data and ensures a safe and enjoyable environment by addressing any offensive or spam content reported by users. Violations of the app’s terms and conditions can result in user account suspensions. Furthermore, the admin panel incorporates an analytics tool with an advanced filtration function. The super admin gains access to comprehensive analytics and statistics, enabling them to evaluate user engagement and interactions with all the posts. They can also monitor the reports on posts. Furthermore, the admin panel empowers the super admin to oversee ad placement on the app and control the frequency for each.

Business Challenge

During the development process, we have not come across any major challenges that we consider worthy of sharing. Overall, the process has been fun and enjoyable for our talented team. However, we should be extremely careful with the venue viewer feature to ensure the protection of everyone’s privacy.

Our Solution

By incorporating advanced face detection algorithms, we have been able to identify and blur faces efficiently, safeguarding individuals’ privacy.

Development Process

We have built HotSpotz from the ground up, employing a comprehensive development process. It started with our UI/UX designer creating a user-friendly and visually appealing design. Following this, our developers took charge of the implementation.
On the mobile app, we have a dedicated developer working, while on the admin panel a front-end developer and a back-end developer have been working. To maintain the highest level of quality, we have also assigned a QA specialist, responsible for testing the app’s functionalities. Additionally, a project manager oversees the team to ensure smooth coordination and efficient operations.
Throughout the development cycle, we have adopted the Scrum methodology, facilitating regular meetings with the team to track progress and plan tasks. Moreover, we have weekly meetings with our clients to make sure everything goes as planned and all of us are on the same page. For project management, we have utilized mostly Slack, Jira, Skype and Google Meet.
The development is ongoing. Currently, our primary focus is on developing the venue viewer feature. This addition will allow HotSpotz users to have a real-time view of activities and events taking place in various venues. Prioritizing privacy, we have implemented a blurring feature to protect the identities of individuals present in these events or venues.

Result

HotSpotz was successfully launched on the Apple store and Google Play some time ago. However, it is just the beginning, as we have stated the development is still in process, and we are scaling up and enhancing the app.
