Context

Go Go Quincy’s primary goal is to make technology accessible for everyone irrespective of their age. Not only do they give tech assistance to 55+ adults by one click and help them make use of various digital services and platforms, but also enable them to

  • track expenses of those services on a biweekly, weekly, monthly and annual basis
  • get notified of upcoming renewals of their subscriptions
  • invite their family members to their personal dashboard, where they can also keep a track of all the subscriptions and costs.

Besides the web application, we have also built an extension that serves as an additional feature. This extension allows the elderly to input their phone numbers. Once the number is entered, a notification is automatically sent to technicians, who reach out to provide assistance with any technical issues they may be facing.
Moreover, we have integrated a coupon feature into the extension. Through a collaboration with numerous businesses, Quincy users can enjoy discounts and special offers. Whenever a coupon becomes available from any of these partnering businesses, users receive a notification to visit their websites and get those coupons. Furthermore, the admin panel enables sending notifications to Quincy users about available coupons from partnering businesses whenever they visit their competitors’ websites.

Challenge

The challenge was to rebuild the web application. So, we have not created it from scratch, rather we have worked with already written code trying to revamp the whole project, which is much more challenging.

3

Solution

We refactored and revamped the entire project, making it simpler and fully functional. We ended up converting Node.js to Nest.js, AngularJS to ReactJS and MongoDB to PostgreSQL. The design has been almost completely changed as well.

4

Development Process

We have successfully rebuilt the project, largely enhancing the initial technologies, optimizing code quality, and expanding the project scope. Initially, we had a team consisting of a project manager, a frontend developer and a backend developer, but as the process progressed, a full stack developer also joined the process. We have used Scrum to plan, manage and execute the project. We have sprint planning meetings to come to the best possible tech solutions. Additionally, daily standups with the team have been an integral part of our process, ensuring effective coordination. We also have meetings with the client, as needed. For project management, we relied on tools like Jira and Slack. As of now, we have already launched the extension and are actively addressing minor bugs and making improvements.

The web application and its accompanying extension have already been in production for a while.
